Project Background
Located at No.6 South Station Road, Liunan District, Liuzhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Liuzhou Station was founded in 1939. As a special-class station under the jurisdiction of Nanning Railway Bureau and one of China's top 50 passenger railway stations, it is a comprehensive special-class station focusing on passenger transport and concurrent with cargo transport. It mainly undertakes the arrival, departure and passing operations of passenger and cargo trains in five directions of three major conventional speed trunk lines: Xianggui, Qiangu and Jiaoliu.
Meanwhile, it undertakes the passenger boarding and alighting business of EMU trains on two high-speed railway lines: Liunan and Hengliu. As a 'throat' station of Guangxi's railway transportation, it is one of the railway transportation hubs in five provinces and regions in Central and Southwest China. The reconstruction project of Liuzhou Railway Station started on December 31, 2015; the new station is an elevated modern station building with a total construction area of 90,000 square meters, 4.5 times the size of the old station, becoming the second largest modern passenger railway station in Guangxi after Nanning East Station. The west station building was put into use in early 2017, and the overall reconstruction of the station was completed by the end of 2018.
